Written by Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, the Goncourt’s first Sub-Saharan African winner, and translated by Lara Vergnaud, this coming-of-age novel is a gripping literary mystery in the vein of Bolaño’s Savage Detectives, unraveling the fascinating life of a maligned Black author, and is based on the history of award-winning Malian author Yambo Ouologuem.
